The Sultanate of Oman has announced that it will grant a free 10-day visit visa to passengers and crew members of cruise ships traveling to the country. This decision is expected to significantly boost the tourism industry in Oman and attract more visitors to the country. The decision was issued by His Excellency Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, through Decision No. 132/2024, which amends some provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law.
The amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law include granting a visit visa for passengers and crew of cruise ships for a period not exceeding 10 days. This visa will be granted by the competent authority upon the request of the tourist ship agent, and under his responsibility, to passengers and crew of tourist ships wishing to visit Oman for tourism purposes. The visa will entitle its holder to enter Oman and reside there for up to 10 days, as long as the entry is completed within 30 days from the date of issuance of the visa.
In addition to the 10-day visit visa, the decision also includes the provision of a one-month visit visa for passengers and crew of tourist ships. This visa will be granted by the competent authority upon the request of the tourist ship agent, under his responsibility, to passengers and crew of tourist ships wishing to visit Oman for tourism purposes. The visa will authorize its holder to enter Oman and reside there for a period of one month, as long as the entry is completed within 30 days from the date of issuance of the visa.
This new visa policy is expected to make Oman a more attractive destination for cruise ships and tourism, as it simplifies the visa application process for passengers and crew members. By offering free and easy access to the country, Oman hopes to increase the number of visitors and boost its tourism industry. This decision reflects Oman’s commitment to promoting tourism and attracting travelers from around the world to experience the beauty and culture of the Sultanate.
