The National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) in Oman has announced the suspension of work and study in several governorates in response to heavy rainfall forecasts. The decision comes in light of reports from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, predicting rainfall between 40-90 mm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The affected governorates include Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, and North Al Sharqiyah, impacting both the public and private sectors. In other regions, such as Al Wusta, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and Al Buraimi, studies will continue remotely to ensure safety while maintaining educational progress.

This precautionary measure is aimed at minimizing potential risks associated with the expected unstable weather conditions. The NCEM’s decision to suspend work and study in certain governorates underscores the importance of prioritizing safety in the face of natural disasters. By taking proactive steps to protect citizens and ensure their well-being, authorities are demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the population from potential harm. This decision highlights the government’s dedication to disaster preparedness and response, with the ultimate goal of reducing the impact of extreme weather events on the community.
