Oman and Jordan sign Memorandum of Understanding to enhance investment opportunities in different sectors

The Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance joint investment opportunities in various sectors. The MoU was signed as part of His Majesty the Sultan’s State Visit to Jordan and aims to expand economic cooperation between the two countries. The agreement was inked by Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Social Security Corporation, represented by the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) in Jordan.

The MoU covers a wide range of sectors, including information and communications technology (ICT), food, agriculture, medicines, medical supplies, energy, mining, tourism, and logistics services. According to Abdulsalman Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of OIA, the agreement is in line with the Royal directives of His Majesty the Sultan to strengthen ties between Oman and Jordan and develop economic relations. The OIA has already identified joint investment opportunities in Jordan and the MoU will help in exploring further opportunities.

Al Murshidi highlighted that the MoU will focus on areas such as pharmaceuticals, food security, and mining, in addition to exploring opportunities in real estate development. Discussions are also underway to establish a direct shipping line between the Jordanian port of Aqaba and ports in Oman. The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Ojaili, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Jordan, and several Jordanian officials.

The MoU reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new investment opportunities. By signing the agreement, Oman and Jordan are looking to enhance collaboration in various sectors such as ICT, food, agriculture, energy, tourism, and logistics services. The agreement also highlights the importance of consolidating ties between the two countries and expanding economic spheres.

The signing of the MoU is a significant step towards promoting investment opportunities between Oman and Jordan and fostering economic development. The agreement between the OIA and the SSIF will play a crucial role in identifying and exploring joint investment opportunities in different sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food security, and mining. It also demonstrates the commitment of both countries to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
