The National Museum in Muscat has introduced an innovative “Audio Guide” service to enhance visitors’ experience by providing detailed historical explanations of the museum’s Galleries and artefacts. The service features 395 items and is available in Arabic and English. Visitors can choose between self-guided tours or group tours and benefit from options designed for individuals with disabilities, such as audio descriptions for the visually impaired and sign language for the deaf-mute community. The device also includes audio and visual instructions, as well as an interactive map to help visitors navigate the Galleries and explore the most significant artefacts.

The launch of the “Audio Guide” service is in line with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to enhance digital transformation and provide visitors with a more immersive and educational experience. By incorporating cognitive and cultural dimensions, the National Museum seeks to enrich visitors’ understanding of the exhibits and promote greater interaction with them. The service complements the museum’s existing “Virtual Tour” feature on its official website, allowing visitors to explore the Galleries and learn about the rare artefacts from Oman’s history as if they were physically present in the museum.

Visitors can now enjoy a more engaging and informative visit to the National Museum in Muscat with the introduction of the “Audio Guide” service. By providing detailed historical explanations of the museum’s Galleries and artefacts, the service aims to enrich visitors’ experience and foster a deeper understanding of Oman’s cultural heritage. With options tailored for individuals with disabilities, such as audio descriptions and sign language, the service is inclusive and accessible to a wide range of visitors. Additionally, the interactive features of the device, including audio and visual instructions and an interactive map, make it easier for visitors to navigate the museum and explore its most significant artefacts.

The “Audio Guide” service at the National Museum in Muscat is a testament to Oman’s commitment to enhancing digital transformation and providing a more interactive and educational experience for visitors. By incorporating cognitive and cultural dimensions into the museum experience, visitors are encouraged to engage more deeply with the exhibits and gain a greater appreciation for Oman’s rich history. With options specifically designed for visitors with disabilities, such as audio descriptions and sign language, the service is inclusive and ensures that all visitors can enjoy a meaningful and immersive museum visit. The launch of the “Audio Guide” service aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the museum’s goal of enriching visitors’ experiences through innovative and interactive tools.

In December, the National Museum in Muscat introduced the “Virtual Tour” feature on its official website, enabling visitors to explore the museum’s Galleries and learn about the rare artefacts that showcase Oman’s history. The addition of the “Audio Guide” service further enhances the museum experience by providing visitors with detailed historical explanations of the exhibits and artefacts. With options for self-guided tours or group tours, as well as features tailored for visitors with disabilities, the service offers a comprehensive and inclusive experience for all visitors. By incorporating interactive elements and audiovisual instructions, the “Audio Guide” service makes it easier for visitors to navigate the museum and engage with its collections in a meaningful way.
