NDC launches 8th parallel programme on ‘Cybersecurity in digital transition’

The National Defence College in Muscat has started the implementation of its 8th parallel programme titled ‘Cybersecurity within digital transition’. The opening ceremony was held with Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi as the keynote speaker. The first day of the programme included two lectures focused on the objectives of the “National Strategy for Cybersecurity” and the “National Programme for Cybersecurity Industry”.

The 4-day programme aims to enhance the leadership skills and capabilities of leaders in government institutions, private sector establishments, senior officers in the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), and other military and security units. Attendees at the opening ceremony included senior SAF officers, military commanders, CEOs from private sector establishments, and staff from the National Defence College.

Cybersecurity has become a critical aspect within the digital transition of various institutions, making it essential for leaders to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to address potential cyber threats. The programme is designed to provide participants with the necessary tools to develop effective strategies for enhancing cybersecurity within their respective organizations.

The lectures during the programme will cover a range of topics related to cybersecurity, including national strategies and industry programmes. By the end of the programme, participants are expected to have a deeper understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, enabling them to implement effective cybersecurity measures within their organizations.

Overall, the 8th parallel programme on cybersecurity at the National Defence College in Muscat is a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities in addressing cyber threats. With the participation of leaders from various sectors, including government, private, and military, the programme is expected to have a significant impact on enhancing cybersecurity awareness and preparedness in Oman.
