The Sultanate of Oman is bracing for the impact of a low-pressure system expected to bring clouds, rain, and occasional thunderstorms from Sunday to Tuesday. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued warnings for the governorate of Dhofar, parts of Al Wusta, and Al Hajar Mountains, with the potential for rainfall between 10-30 mm and fresh downdraft winds with speeds of 15-35 knots. Horizontal visibility may decrease during thunderstorms, and rising dust could be a concern. The coastal areas of the Sea of Oman may also experience rain and thunder.

On Sunday and Monday, residents can expect cloud advection and formation with varying rain intensity and occasional thunderstorms over the mentioned areas. The impact could include the flow of some wadis, movement of unstable objects due to winds, and waves reaching a maximum height of 2.25 meters along the coasts. Tuesday will see isolated rains and thundershowers in the same areas, with similar potential impacts. It is advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions.

The early morning hours of Saturday may see the formation of low clouds or fog along the coasts, affecting visibility on the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea. The Directorate has urged caution during this time and advised against unnecessary travel. The region is known for its diverse climate, and residents are accustomed to such weather patterns. However, it is always important to stay updated with the latest forecasts and be prepared for any changes in conditions.

The Governorate of Dhofar, Al Wusta, and Al Hajar Mountains are particularly susceptible to the effects of the low-pressure system, with the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms. Wadis may flow, winds may be strong and unstable, and visibility may decrease. The coastal areas are advised to be cautious of the moderate sea conditions and high waves. It is recommended to secure loose objects and avoid unnecessary risks during this period of unsettled weather.

Meteorological experts are closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to residents and authorities. The safety and well-being of the public are a top priority, and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure preparedness and response to any potential impacts. As Oman prepares for the arrival of the low-pressure system, it is essential for everyone to stay informed, remain vigilant, and follow the guidance of official sources to stay safe during this period of inclement weather.
