International Museum Day: Inauguration of archaeological finds exhibition in Al Dakhiliyah

The permanent exhibition of archaeological finds in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has been inaugurated, coinciding with the celebration of International Museum Day. This exhibition allows visitors to learn about a wide range of archaeological finds and ancient collectibles, highlighting the importance of museums in preserving material history. Ali bin Saeed Al Adawi, Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in the governorate, emphasized the significance of museums as a means of cultural exchange, especially in light of this year’s theme “Museums for Education and Scientific Research.”

Saeed bin Salem Al Jadidi, Head of the Antiquities and Museums Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, explained that the permanent exhibition features a collection of rare artifacts, including pottery and iron pieces discovered in various governorates of Oman. Private museum owners, such as Nizwa Museum, Gateway to the Past Museum in Nizwa, Currency Museum in Al Hamra, and Sharaf House Museum in Jabal Al Akhdar, also participated in the exhibition. The exhibition was opened by His Excellency Sheikh Saleh bin Dhiyab Al-Rubaie, Governor of Nizwa, who honored entities supporting archaeological exhibitions and licensed private museums in the governorate.

The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of museums and their role in preserving cultural heritage. It provides a platform for the public to explore and appreciate the rich history and heritage of Oman through archaeological finds and collectibles. The participation of private museum owners adds diversity to the exhibition, offering visitors a wider range of artifacts and historical items to admire and learn from.
