Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) recently participated in the Seventh Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2024, where it showcased its commitment to sustainable fishing practices and cutting-edge technologies. The event, attended by over 30,000 visitors from 70 countries, provided a platform for FDO to highlight its diverse range of seafood products and services. Salim Al Mamari, Investments Director of FDO, emphasized the success of their participation in engaging potential partners and investors to elevate Oman’s reputation as a major fish producer and exporter.
FDO’s exhibition at the event featured fresh and frozen seafood, state-of-the-art processing technologies, and sustainable fishing methods. SIMAK, one of FDO’s subsidiaries, drew attention with its seafood processing facility in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, producing over 100 million cans annually. OSARA, another subsidiary, showcased premium and sustainably farmed shrimp products that garnered interest from Russian and European markets. Marsa Al Duqm presented its upcoming fishery port development project, expected to enhance operational efficiency and economic development within Oman’s fisheries sector.
Blue Waters, FDO’s aquaculture subsidiary, showcased advanced technologies for producing marine finfish, attracting international investors interested in sustainable seafood production. Oman Pelagic demonstrated its modern fishing fleet specializing in pelagic species like tuna, highlighting sustainable fishing practices and advanced vessel technology. The positive response from global stakeholders at the event affirmed the potential for fruitful collaborations that will drive sustainable growth in Oman’s fisheries sector.
