Civil defence day 2023 to be celebrated on March 1

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman to celebrate on March 1 the World Civil Defence Day 2023 under the slogan of the role of technical systems in risk assessment.

Oman, represented by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), will celebrate the day  on Wednesday, alongwith the countries of the world that are members of the International Civil Protection Organisation. The day, which falls on first of March of each year, is in appreciation of the efforts made by the civil protection and civil defence agencies to preserve lives and property.

This year slogan, ‘the role of technical systems in risk assessment’, was coined based on the interest and importance of the role of technical systems, information programmes, technological applications, and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in assessing risks related to civil protection and civil defence.

On this occasion, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority will hold on Wednesday and Thursday 8-9 March 2023, the Oman Conference and Exhibition for Civil Defense and First Aid at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat Governorate, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Head of the Follow-up Unit for the Implementation of Oman Vision 2040.

Where this conference is organized by the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in cooperation with strategic partners, institutions and sponsoring and supportive companies, with the participation of speakers and experts from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, and in the presence of representatives of civil defense agencies in the GCC countries, the International Civil Protection Organization, the International Search and Rescue Advisory Authority and government agencies.  

The conference will discuss in its sessions many topics related to risks and other aspects related to civil defense and ambulance work.  The authority will also organize awareness exhibitions in the governorates of (Dhofar, Musandam, North Al Batinah) during this year in order to promote awareness culture and disseminate it to the various segments of society.
