A new day club has recently opened in Muscat, aiming to cater to the needs of the elderly population from various governorates. This club is designed to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens by providing a comfortable and entertaining environment that fosters social interactions and improves mental health. The club’s key features and goals include creating opportunities for elderly individuals to connect with peers, offering psychological support to reduce isolation and depression, providing physical programs to maintain fitness, ensuring daily care services, and organising workshops on healthy nutrition and chronic disease management.

The club’s founder, Aisha bint Nasser Al-Afifi, was inspired by personal experiences and a recognised need in the community for such a service. She hopes to expand the club’s offerings in the future to include day care, home care, and continuing education programmes. Aisha bint Nasser Al-Afifi stated in an interview with the Oman News Agency, “The idea of the initiative came to provide an outlet for the elderly, especially during the day, and to integrate and communicate with members of society in their environment and social surroundings, and to provide care and attention to them, and to fill their free time with what benefits them and benefits them through health and psychological programs to reduce the psychological effects associated with aging.”

Overall, the day club in Muscat represents a significant step forward in providing care and support for the elderly population in the Sultanate of Oman. The club aims to address the various needs of senior citizens, including social interaction, mental health, physical well-being, comprehensive care, and education and awareness. By providing a range of services and activities, the club seeks to improve the overall quality of life for elderly individuals in Muscat and beyond.

The club’s focus on social interaction is crucial for elderly individuals who may feel isolated or lonely. By creating opportunities for them to connect with peers and form new friendships, the club helps combat feelings of loneliness and enhances their overall well-being. Additionally, the club offers psychological support and activities to reduce depression and isolation, promoting mental health among its members.

In terms of physical well-being, the club provides various programs and activities to help senior citizens maintain fitness and improve their overall health. These activities are designed to cater to the specific needs of elderly individuals and promote an active and healthy lifestyle. The club also offers comprehensive care services to ensure that elderly individuals receive the support and assistance they need on a daily basis.

Education and awareness play a key role in the club’s offerings, with workshops and lectures on healthy nutrition and chronic disease management. By providing information and resources on important health topics, the club empowers its members to make informed decisions about their well-being and take control of their health. This focus on education helps to raise awareness about health issues that may affect the elderly population and promotes healthy lifestyles among club members.

In conclusion, the new day club in Muscat is a valuable resource for the elderly population in Oman, providing a range of services and activities to enhance their quality of life.
