In the academic year 2024-2025, a total of 32,625 seats have been offered to eligible students in government and private higher education institutions in Oman. These seats include scholarships offered by the government for study locally and abroad, as well as grants provided by private sector establishments and friendly countries. Ahmed Mohammed Al Azri, Director General of the Higher Education Admission Centre at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, stated that 20,449 seats are available in government higher education institutions, while 11,573 seats are offered through local scholarships in private institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. Additionally, there are 603 seats available for external scholarships to study abroad.
New study programmes have been introduced as part of scholarships both locally and internationally in the Sultanate of Oman. The programmes cover various specializations such as artificial intelligence (AI), sustainable systems engineering, cybersecurity, emergency medical services, visual communication design, port management and sustainable shipping, and business administration with sub-specializations in International Business and e-business. The period for amending specializations will commence on July 24, 2024, and conclude on August 4, 2024, at 2:30 pm.
