The Arabian Gulf Cup final in Kuwait City was a thrilling match between Bahrain and Oman, with Bahrain emerging as the champions after a dramatic comeback. Oman took the lead in the first half, but Bahrain fought back in sensational style to secure a 2-1 victory and lift their second Gulf title. The Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium was filled with 57,674 fans eagerly awaiting a festival of football between the tournament’s top two teams.

Despite an early spell of pressure from Oman, Bahrain missed a golden opportunity to score first when Mohamed Marhoon failed to convert from close range. However, Oman found the back of the net four minutes later through Abdul Rahman Al Mushaifri’s headed goal from a corner. While Bahrain came close to equalizing before halftime, they entered the break trailing by one goal, setting the stage for a thrilling second half.

In the 78th minute, a penalty was awarded to Bahrain after Marhoon was fouled in the box. He calmly converted the spot-kick to level the score. Just two minutes later, Bahrain took the lead when Marhoon’s cross was deflected into Oman’s net by Mohammed Al-Masalami. The quick turnaround left Oman reeling, and they were unable to mount a comeback, handing Bahrain a well-deserved victory.

The 26th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup was a resounding success, with over 450,000 fans attending the 15 matches played over the course of two weeks. The attention now shifts to the 27th edition, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia in September 2026. Despite missing out on the title, Kuwait received recognition as Mohammad Dahan was named the Player of the Tournament and awarded $10,000 in prize money.

Overall, the final between Bahrain and Oman provided a thrilling conclusion to a successful tournament, showcasing the quality of football in the Arabian Gulf region. With both teams displaying skill and determination, Bahrain’s comeback victory will be remembered as a remarkable moment in Gulf Cup history. As the focus now turns to the next edition of the tournament, fans can look forward to more exciting matches and fierce competition among the region’s top teams.
