Zallaq, a town in the Southern Governorate of Bahrain, is currently undergoing a major infrastructure overhaul. The roads are being dug up, resurfaced, and fitted with new streetlights, while sewage and stormwater systems are also being upgraded. This multi-million dinar project is aimed at improving the area’s transportation network and ensuring the safety of residents in rapidly developing areas.

The Ministry of Works provided an update on these developments during a recent Southern Municipal Council meeting. Alongside the progress in Zallaq, the ministry also shared details on various other road projects in Madinat Khalifa, Riffa, and other southern locales. The focus is not only on road upgrades but also on enhancing sewage systems, stormwater drainage, and lighting infrastructure throughout the region.

In Zallaq specifically, the project is on track to be completed by January 2026. So far, 40% of the work has been finished, with streetlights already installed and road signage in place to ensure safe passage. Once completed, the area will benefit from newly surfaced roads, brick-paved sidewalks, and pedestrian paths, enhancing the overall aesthetics and functionality of the town.

One of the key developments highlighted during the council meeting is the construction of a new dual carriageway connecting Hunainiyah Avenue and Al Muaskar Highway. This project, currently 15% complete, will further improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the area. By investing in these infrastructure projects, the Ministry of Works is demonstrating a commitment to the development and modernization of Bahrain’s Southern Governorate.

Overall, the improvements in Zallaq and other southern locales are part of a comprehensive strategy to upgrade the region’s infrastructure and support its continued growth. By investing in road upgrades, sewage systems, stormwater drainage, and lighting infrastructure, the Ministry of Works is laying the foundation for a more sustainable and livable environment for residents. As these projects progress, residents can look forward to enhanced safety, improved transportation networks, and a more visually appealing urban landscape.

In conclusion, the ongoing infrastructure projects in Zallaq and other areas of the Southern Governorate are a testament to the government’s commitment to investing in the region’s future. By focusing on road upgrades, sewage systems, stormwater drainage, and lighting infrastructure, the Ministry of Works is creating a more resilient and efficient urban environment. As these projects continue to unfold, residents can expect to see tangible improvements in their daily lives, from smoother transportation routes to enhanced public spaces. With a projected completion date of January 2026 for the Zallaq project, the future looks bright for the Southern Governorate of Bahrain.
