The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace where discussions were held on various important matters. The Cabinet praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s decision to reallocate funds meant for his silver jubilee celebration to charitable organizations under the management of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. The King’s continuous efforts towards humanitarian initiatives aimed at promoting solidarity, cooperation, and community partnership were also highlighted and appreciated.

The Cabinet extended congratulations to the pilgrims from Bahrain who safely returned from the Hajj pilgrimage and commended the Bahrain Pilgrimage Mission for their efforts in facilitating the journey for citizens and residents. Furthermore, gratitude was expressed towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ensuring the comfort and care of all pilgrims, including those from Bahrain, during the Hajj season. The successful organization of the Hajj season was acknowledged, along with appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s leadership, government, and people.

The Minister of Interior provided updates to the Cabinet regarding the review of cases of acquisition of Bahraini citizenship since 2010, focusing on cases of fraud in obtaining citizenship. The formation of a committee by the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs was highlighted, aimed at investigating individuals who provided inaccurate or forged documents to obtain citizenship, misused citizenship, or harmed the Kingdom’s interests and community security. The Cabinet expressed support for the ongoing efforts of various government agencies in upholding public security, safety, and providing necessary services during the Eid al-Adha holidays.

Additionally, the Cabinet discussed the response to a fire that occurred in residential buildings and commercial stores in the Manama Souq, praising the professional handling of the incident by the Civil Defense, the Ministry of Interior, and other authorities. The upcoming World Drug Day was recognized, with the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities commended for their efforts in combating drug use and raising awareness of its dangers in the Kingdom. Furthermore, on the occasion of International Day of Women in Diplomacy, the Cabinet acknowledged the achievements of Bahraini women in diplomacy and their contributions to the Kingdom’s diplomatic endeavors.

In further developments, the Cabinet approved various memorandums, including mechanisms to implement the mid-day outdoor work ban in 2024, government responses to proposals from the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council, and agreements with countries like Bulgaria, Egypt, and Hungary in various fields. A cooperation agreement between the Government of Bahrain and the Government of the Republic of Hungary was also discussed, along with an MoU between the General Sports Authority in Bahrain and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism in Belarus to cooperate in the sports sector. The outcomes of the final national examinations for the ninth and twelfth grades in 2024 were also presented to the Cabinet for review.

Overall, the Cabinet meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing crucial issues such as citizenship fraud, public safety, diplomatic achievements, and international cooperation. The decisions made and discussions held at the meeting reflect a proactive approach towards enhancing various sectors in Bahrain and strengthening partnerships with other countries. The efforts of government agencies, along with the initiatives taken to combat drug use and promote awareness, demonstrate a comprehensive strategy towards maintaining security, safety, and community well-being in the Kingdom. The role of Bahraini women in diplomacy and their contributions to the diplomatic landscape were also recognized, underlining the significance of gender diversity and inclusion in decision-making processes.
