RCSI Bahrain and Tamkeen sign agreement for AI solution

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain has recently signed an agreement with Bahrain’s Labour Fund, Tamkeen, to provide an artificial intelligence tool to aid medical students in practising and refining their diagnostic skills on virtual patients. This tool will also broaden their perspectives by allowing them to review atypical medical cases. This partnership aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2024, focusing on creating quality employment opportunities, supporting the career growth of Bahrainis in the private sector, and supporting private sector enterprises to contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Her Excellency Ms Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, commented on the partnership, stating that it is part of their ongoing efforts to support the digital transformation of private sector enterprises of various sizes, sectors, and developmental stages. She emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technological solutions to enhance the quality of medical education and contribute to the development of research and medical skills of national talent in the healthcare sector. She also highlighted the significant opportunities for creating high-quality jobs for skilled professionals in the healthcare sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, expressed his delight in joining forces with Tamkeen and K-Labs to create an advanced AI-driven solution that will enhance the learning experience of their students. He expressed gratitude to Tamkeen for their role in fostering Bahrain’s digital transformation. This collaboration will not only benefit the students by improving their diagnostic skills and knowledge but will also contribute to the overall development of the healthcare sector in Bahrain.

The healthcare sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain is considered one of the most prominent and promising sectors, offering significant opportunities for skilled professionals. With over 15,800 employees across various roles and specialties in the healthcare sector, there is a growing demand for trained and qualified individuals in this field. The partnership between RCSI – Medical University of Bahrain and Tamkeen aims to address this demand by providing advanced technological solutions to enhance the skills and knowledge of medical students and professionals in the country.
