The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has partnered with the AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF) to sponsor ‘Watheq,’ a university preparatory programme aimed at high school graduates during the summer break. The initiative is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge to succeed in their university studies and ensure a successful and enjoyable university experience academically and socially.
The signing ceremony for the partnership took place in the presence of key officials from both organizations, including Shaikha Hala bint Mohamed Al Khalifa and Hisham Abu Alfateh from NBB. The ‘Watheq’ programme involves collaboration with various academic institutions in Bahrain, including the American University of Bahrain, Euro University of Bahrain, and Bahrain Polytechnic, among others.
This programme focuses on developing students’ capabilities and helping them transition smoothly into university life by assisting them in major selection, university application processes, meeting requirements, and acquiring important interpersonal skills. The curriculum includes interactive workshops, field trips, challenges, and real-life applications to enhance students’ personal development, motivation, foundational abilities, university major exploration, and career guidance.
The courses offered in ‘Watheq’ are based on informative insights and data gathered through surveys and focus groups, ensuring that the programme meets the needs of the students. The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation, Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, expressed pride in the Foundation’s commitment to enriching Bahrain’s education sector through programmes like ‘Watheq.’ She also highlighted the importance of collaboration with NBB to empower Bahraini youth.

He noted that the ‘Watheq’ programme aligns with NBB’s objectives to support the academic development of young people in Bahrain, contributing to the nation’s future talent pool.
NBB’s sponsorship of ‘Watheq’ is part of its broader efforts to promote a culture of learning and development among Bahrain’s youth communities. Through this initiative, NBB aims to provide students with the resources they need to excel in their academic journeys and succeed in their future careers.
