The media in Bahrain plays a crucial role in the country’s development process, according to MP Dr. Maryam Al-Dhaen. She praised the high standard achieved by Bahrain’s media and attributed it to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dr. Al-Dhaen also acknowledged the significant support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism have fostered a competitive atmosphere and encouraged journalistic excellence in the country.

Bahraini Press Day is celebrated annually on May 7th to underscore the leadership’s commitment to the media as a crucial partner in the country’s development, Dr. Al-Dhaen highlighted. She commended the efforts of Bahraini newspapers and media personnel in highlighting the nation’s achievements across various realms including economic, developmental, environmental, and social. Dr. Al-Dhaen also expressed gratitude to H.E. Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information, for the ministry’s initiatives in nurturing media talent and enhancing the sector regionally and internationally.

In addition to praising the media sector, Dr. Al-Dhaen affirmed the Parliament’s dedication to supporting legislation promoting freedom of expression and opinion within the press and media sector, aligned with constitutional commitments. This commitment to freedom of expression highlights the importance placed on the media’s role in Bahrain’s society. With ongoing support from the government and the leadership, the media in Bahrain continues to grow and excel in its coverage of various aspects of the nation’s development.

The support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has been instrumental in fostering a competitive atmosphere in the media sector in Bahrain. Initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism have encouraged journalistic excellence and recognized the efforts of media personnel in the country. By designating Bahraini Press Day on May 7th annually, the leadership showcases its commitment to the media as a key partner in Bahrain’s development process. Dr. Al-Dhaen specifically praised the role of Bahraini newspapers and media personnel in highlighting the nation’s achievements across economic, developmental, environmental, and social realms.
