The Ministry of Labour in Bahrain has announced plans to tackle the country’s unemployment rate of 6.3% by aiming to employ 20,000 Bahrainis and train 10,000 job seekers annually. This initiative was revealed in response to an inquiry from MP Abdulwahed Qarata. The Ministry highlighted the National Plan for Labour Market Regulation (2023- 2026) as the key driver behind these efforts. To assist job seekers, the Ministry is encouraging registration and offering unemployment benefits. Non-university graduates will receive BD150 per month, while university graduates will receive BD200 per month for nine months. This support is aimed at first-time job seekers or those with less than 12 months of work experience. By providing financial assistance to those in need, the Ministry hopes to ease the burden of unemployment and help individuals find meaningful employment opportunities.
