Approximately 50 Indian nationals attended the gathering, which featured the Embassy’s Community Welfare and Consular teams, as well as their panel of lawyers. During the event, Ambassador Jacob issued a warning to the Indian community about fraudulent calls impersonating the Embassy’s helpline number. He advised attendees to be cautious and not share personal information or transfer money in response to such scams.

Ambassador Jacob also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and Bahraini authorities for the release of 16 Indian prisoners under the Royal Pardon on September 4th, 2024. This brings the total number of Indian nationals pardoned this year to 126. The attendees were briefed on several successful cases handled by the Embassy in August, including the repatriation of a stranded family, the return of an Indian national suffering from tuberculosis, and the long-awaited return of an individual who had been stranded in Bahrain for over 25 years.

The Open House event served as a platform for the Indian community in Bahrain to interact with the Embassy’s officials and legal team. Ambassador Jacob extended greetings to the attendees on the occasion of Onam and encouraged them to stay vigilant against fraudulent calls. He emphasized that Embassy officials do not make unsolicited calls from the helpline number provided and urged attendees to report any suspicious activity. The event also highlighted the strong relationship between India and Bahrain, with Ambassador Jacob acknowledging the support of Bahraini authorities in resolving various cases.
