Indian Embassy advises against scam phone calls

The Embassy of the Republic of India in Bahrain has issued a warning to the Indian community following reports of individuals impersonating their 24/7 helpline number in attempts to solicit personal information or demand money transfers. The Embassy has denied making any calls from this number and has advised community members to be cautious when receiving such calls. Despite these challenges, the Embassy is grateful for the successful resolution of numerous domestic worker cases in May, thanks to the local authorities and associations for their continuous support.

His Excellency Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob has expressed his appreciation for the prompt assistance in resolving domestic worker cases. The Embassy has been providing support to affected Indian citizens, including accommodation, emergency certificates, and travel tickets to those in need. The Indian community is urged to remain vigilant and exercise prudence when receiving calls from unknown sources to avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities targeting them.

The recent reports of impersonation of the Embassy’s helpline number have raised concerns amongst the Indian community in Bahrain, as scammers are attempting to gather personal information or demand money transfers.
