Honoring a Legacy: Farouk Mohammed Al-Khatib Retires After 71 Years in Oil and Gas

Farouk Mohammed Al-Khatib, Oil Field Lands Advisor at Bapco Exploration and Production, recently retired after an impressive 71-year career in the oil and gas sector. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of Bapco Energies, hosted a reception to honor Al-Khatib for his significant contributions and dedication throughout his extensive career. Al-Khatib was praised for his role in advancing the industry and adapting to its evolving landscape, showcasing his commitment as a distinguished national talent who served diligently for seven decades.

During the reception, HH Shaikh Nasser emphasized the importance of honoring long-serving individuals, aligning with the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Throughout his tenure, Al-Khatib held various technical roles, including drilling, field services, gas, asset management, and lands. He started in a fuel tank position but made history as the first Bahraini appointed as a shift supervisor in the Bahrain Field Department. His exemplary service earned him multiple awards and honors, solidifying his legacy as a devoted professional and a source of inspiration for his colleagues and future generations in the industry. His contributions to the oil and gas sector will be remembered as pivotal in shaping the industry’s growth and success in Bahrain.
