The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) in Bahrain has received two bids for the planned Solar Power Stations in the Al Dur area of the Southern Governorate. The bidding companies are ALPHA ENERGY GENERATIONS CO. W.L.L and TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Company Limited. This project is in line with the National Goals of diversifying and sustaining energy resources in Bahrain, as well as advancing the country’s energy transformation plan. The anticipated production capacity of the project is expected to range between 90 and 100 megawatts, making a significant contribution to Bahrain’s renewable energy sector.

The tender for construction works for the Solar Power Stations will be carried out on a Turnkey basis, which includes Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Supply of materials, Installation, Testing & commissioning, and Civil & Electromechanical works. In addition, the stations will be connected to EWA’s Electricity Transmission network to ensure efficient distribution of the generated energy. The implementation period for the project is set at 18 months from the date of the tender award, indicating a relatively quick completion timeline for the Solar Power Stations.

By investing in solar energy projects like the Solar Power Stations in Al Dur, Bahrain is taking proactive steps towards reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable energy sources. The project not only aligns with the country’s National Goals but also demonstrates a commitment to transitioning towards renewable energy sources. With a focus on diversifying its energy resources, Bahrain is setting a positive example for other countries in the region and beyond. The implementation of the Solar Power Stations will not only contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but also create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the energy sector.

The potential production capacity of 90 to 100 megawatts from the Solar Power Stations represents a significant boost to Bahrain’s renewable energy sector, contributing to the country’s overall energy security and sustainability. By harnessing the power of solar energy, Bahrain is reducing its reliance on traditional fossil fuel sources and moving towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy mix. This shift towards renewable energy sources is essential for achieving a more sustainable future and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The Solar Power Stations project is a crucial step in this direction and highlights Bahrain’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable energy landscape.

The connection of the Solar Power Stations to EWA’s Electricity Transmission network will ensure the efficient distribution and utilization of the generated energy. This integration will enable the seamless transfer of solar power to different parts of Bahrain’s electricity grid, enhancing the overall reliability and stability of the energy system. By expanding its renewable energy infrastructure and incorporating solar power into its energy mix, Bahrain is enhancing its energy security and resilience against external disruptions. This will not only benefit the country’s economy but also support its long-term sustainability goals and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future for Bahrain.

The 18-month implementation period for the Solar Power Stations project signifies a rapid timeline for the construction and commissioning of the stations. This efficient timeframe reflects Bahrain’s commitment to expediting the transition towards renewable energy sources and realizing the benefits of solar power in a timely manner. By completing the project within the specified timeframe, Bahrain will be able to start reaping the benefits of solar energy sooner, further accelerating the country’s progress towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sector. Overall, the Solar Power Stations project in Al Dur represents a significant milestone in Bahrain’s renewable energy journey and sets a positive example for other countries looking to embrace clean and sustainable energy solutions.
