The Capital Municipality in Manama has recently launched a regulatory campaign in the Sitra Central Market to ensure compliance with legal requirements for licensing commercial units and address overdue debts. The Director-General of the Capital Municipality, Mohammed Saad Al-Sahli, confirmed the initiative and stressed the municipality’s commitment to enforcing the law, especially in light of increasing municipal violations related to public road occupancy, cleanliness, and financial obligations. During the two-day campaign, notifications were issued to 40 out of 116 commercial units in the market, with violations ranging from vegetable and fruit stalls to fish-selling stalls and commercial stores. The main focus of the violations was on settling overdue debts.

Al-Sahli expressed that the municipality aims to resolve these issues amicably with merchants and beneficiaries of municipal services by encouraging debt settlements. If settlements cannot be reached, cases are referred to the courts. Many agreements have already been made with debtors to pay their dues within a specified period, in accordance with regulations and laws. The regulatory campaign in the Sitra Central Market is part of the municipality’s efforts to maintain order and compliance with legal requirements among commercial establishments and to address financial issues that may arise. By taking proactive measures and working with merchants to resolve outstanding debts, the municipality is working towards ensuring a fair and transparent business environment within the market.

The Director-General emphasized the importance of abiding by the law and fulfilling financial obligations to avoid facing violations and potential legal action. By issuing notifications and working closely with commercial unit owners, the municipality hopes to encourage timely debt settlements and prevent further escalations of overdue debts. The regulatory campaign serves as a reminder to all businesses operating within the Sitra Central Market to adhere to licensing requirements and financial responsibilities to avoid penalties and potential closures. Businesses that comply with the regulations and settle their debts promptly will contribute to a more organized and sustainable marketplace, benefiting both the merchants and the municipality in the long run.

As part of the regulatory campaign, the Capital Municipality aims to ensure that commercial units in the Sitra Central Market operate in accordance with the law and fulfill their financial obligations promptly. By addressing overdue debts and issuing notifications to non-compliant businesses, the municipality is taking proactive steps to maintain order and compliance within the market. Through ongoing communication and agreements with debtors, the municipality is working towards resolving financial issues in a fair and transparent manner, ultimately promoting a business-friendly environment that benefits all stakeholders. With a focus on enforcement and cooperation, the Capital Municipality is committed to upholding the law and protecting the interests of both businesses and consumers in the Sitra Central Market.

In conclusion, the regulatory campaign launched by the Capital Municipality in the Sitra Central Market aims to enforce compliance with licensing requirements and address overdue debts among commercial units. By issuing notifications and working with merchants to settle outstanding dues, the municipality is actively promoting a fair and transparent business environment within the market. Through cooperation and communication, the municipality seeks to resolve financial issues and ensure that all businesses operate in accordance with the law. By upholding regulations and encouraging timely debt settlements, the Capital Municipality is working towards maintaining order and compliance within the market, benefiting both merchants and the municipality in the long term.
