Established in 1999, Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain is the oldest Bengali community club in the Kingdom of Bahrain, registered under The Ministry of Social Development. Over the past two decades, the club has served as a vibrant hub for the Bengali diaspora, organizing various events and festivals that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Bengal. From social gatherings to cultural performances, educational workshops to charitable initiatives, the club offers a range of activities designed to engage and enrich the lives of its members and the broader society.

One of the flagship events organized by Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain is the celebration of Durga Puja, a grand festival that draws the largest participation from members, the Indian population, and well-wishers from neighboring countries. This festival, celebrated over four to five days, is a time of joy, devotion, and community spirit, showcasing the vibrant cultural traditions of Bengal in the heart of Bahrain. Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain plays a crucial role as a cultural ambassador, preserving and promoting the essence of Bengali culture while contributing positively to the diverse fabric of Bahraini society.

As a member and President of Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain, India’s Independence Day holds special significance, not just for celebrating freedom but for honoring the past and building a strong future. Bahrain has always felt like a home away from home for many Indians, with its welcoming people and diverse community. The strong Indian community in Bahrain is a testament to the deep-rooted bonds between the two nations, and Bahrain will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who call it home.

Living in Bahrain since 2004, Ashesh Mukhopadhyay, Director of Sales at GBM and Patron of Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain, reflects on the enduring relationship between India and Bahrain. India’s Independence Day serves as a moment to celebrate unity and the shared values of growth and harmony between the two countries. Despite their diverse traditions, India and Bahrain both embrace modernism while maintaining their unique identities, showcasing the essence of cooperation and progress in an ever-evolving world.

Shuvendu Bakshi, Director of Projects at Gulf Hotel Group and a Patron of Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain, highlights Bahrain as a peace-loving and tolerant nation, offering a second home for thousands of Indians seeking to fulfill their dreams. On India’s 78th Independence Day, he expresses gratitude and respect to the visionary leaders and citizens of Bahrain, wishing for everlasting love and friendship between the two countries. The law of the land in Bahrain emphasizes humanity above all, fostering a welcoming environment for expatriates to set up a home away from home.

Ujjal Mukherjee, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jazira Group and Patron of Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain, extends Independence Day wishes to all Indians in Bahrain, proud to see India’s progress towards becoming a global powerhouse. With significant business growth between India and Bahrain, he acknowledges the role of the Indian Embassy and Bahrain India Society in fostering bilateral commercial success. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India continues to strengthen its position on the global stage, aiming for greater success and peace in the future.

On India’s Independence Day, Partha Chatterjee, an Engineer in Project Construction and Patron of Bongiyo Samaj, Bahrain, reflects on the unique convergence of Bahrain and India as peaceful, happy, and prosperous nations with a diverse population. He emphasizes the importance of praying for the best for both countries on this special day, highlighting their friendship as a shining example to the world. Bahrain and India’s long-standing relationship showcases how two nations can function as examples of free and independent thought while respecting and depending on each other for mutual growth and prosperity.
