In a recent announcement by the Head of the Public Prosecution Office for Ministries and Public Entities in Bahrain, a Bahraini defendant has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for selling and trading prawns during the closed season. The Lower Criminal Court also ruled for the confiscation of the seized goods in this case. The incident came to light when the Public Prosecution received a report from the Coast Guard Command regarding the defendant being found with 300 kilograms of fresh prawns in his possession.
