The Capital Municipality Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee chairwoman, Huda Sultan, has announced ambitious plans for several new bridges and overpasses in Manama, funded in part by Gulf investments. One key project involves a five-phase bridge connecting Manama to Diyar Al Muharraq. The first phase is currently underway, focusing on groundwork to link Bahrain Bay to the Al Sayah area in Busaiteen. Tenders for subsequent phases are expected to be released in early 2025. Additionally, road improvements in the Capital Governorate are in the works, including increasing lanes near King Faisal Corniche to alleviate traffic congestion between Manama and Muharraq. Future phases will also include a bridge connecting Bahrain Bay to Salman City.

The Ministry of Works is also developing further projects, such as road expansion and improvements near the Marina area on Al Fateh Highway. An overpass will be constructed at the Bahrain Gas intersection to reduce congestion, with the road leading to Manama from the IKEA complex set to be widened. A new bridge will also be connected to the road leading to the King Fahd Causeway. Sultan stated that some of these bridge and overpass projects are expected to begin construction within two years, with the goal of significantly improving traffic flow and connectivity within the capital and surrounding areas.

Overall, these infrastructure developments are crucial for enhancing transportation in Manama and alleviating traffic congestion. By implementing new bridges and overpasses, the city aims to improve connectivity between key areas and ease the flow of vehicles. With Gulf investments supporting these projects, Manama is set to witness significant improvements in its road network in the coming years.

In addition to the Manama-Muharraq link, which includes multiple phases of bridge construction, the Ministry of Works is focusing on road improvements near the Marina area on Al Fateh Highway. The construction of an overpass at the Bahrain Gas intersection will help separate traffic from surrounding areas, reducing congestion and improving the overall flow of vehicles. Furthermore, widening the road leading to Manama from the IKEA complex and adding a new bridge connected to the King Fahd Causeway road will enhance connectivity and accessibility for commuters.

Sultan emphasized that these infrastructure projects are crucial for the development and growth of Manama. By investing in new bridges and overpasses, the city is laying the foundation for improved transportation and smoother traffic flow. With plans to begin construction on several projects within the next two years, residents and visitors to Manama can look forward to a more efficient and well-connected road network that will enhance their overall experience in the capital.

In conclusion, the ambitious plans for new bridges and overpasses in Manama, supported by Gulf investments, are set to transform the city’s transportation infrastructure. These projects will not only alleviate traffic congestion but also improve connectivity between key areas, facilitating smoother travel for residents and visitors. With construction on several projects expected to begin within the next two years, Manama is on track to enhance its road network and establish itself as a more accessible and well-connected capital city in the Gulf region.
