Bahrain continues to solidify its position as a global leader in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, ranking 5th globally and 3rd in the Arab world in the 2024 ICT Development Index (IDI) published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This achievement highlights Bahrain’s commitment to digital advancement and surpasses the global average score with an impressive 97.5 points. The country’s comprehensive communications, information technology, and digital economy sector strategy (2022-2026) serves as a roadmap for its continued success in becoming a leading ICT nation.
His Excellency Mohamed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, attributes Bahrain’s success to the unwavering support of the government, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is dedicated to advancing the ICT sector further, in line with the objectives outlined in the Sixth National Telecommunications Plan from 2023 to 2026.
