In April, Bahrain experienced hotter and rainier weather than usual, with temperatures reaching as high as 37.7°C at the University of Bahrain and 37.6°C at the Bahrain International Circuit. The average monthly temperature of 27.1°C was the sixth highest on record since 1902, with the highest temperature for the month recorded in 2021 at 27.7°C. The average monthly maximum temperature was 31.5°C, while the average minimum temperature was 23.8°C, both higher than the usual April averages.

The highest temperature recorded in April was 35.0°C at Bahrain International Airport, with the highest temperature ever recorded in April at the airport being 41.7°C in 1949. The lowest temperature recorded in April was 18.0°C at the airport, with the lowest temperature ever recorded being 13.9°C in 1956. The month also saw a total rainfall of 45.6 mm over three days, making it the fifth highest rainfall total for April since 1902, almost eight times the average rainfall for the month.

Thunderstorms affected the Kingdom for three days in April, with heavy rains and thunderstorms falling on April 15th. A total rainfall of 23.1 mm was recorded at Bahrain International Airport on that day, making it the sixth highest daily rainfall total for April since 1948. Overall, April is a transitional month from winter to summer in Bahrain, with unstable weather conditions known as “Al Sarayat” lasting until mid-May.

April in Bahrain also saw small amounts of rainfall on multiple days, not exceeding 0.05 mm. This rainfall, along with the thunderstorms and higher temperatures, is characteristic of the transition from winter to summer in the region. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Meteorology Department’s report provides valuable insights into the weather conditions experienced in Bahrain during the month of April, highlighting the impact of climate change on temperature and rainfall patterns in the region.
