The Supreme Council for the Environment announced a ban on fishing for Al-Sha’ari, Al-Safi, and Anq fish from May 1 to May 31, 2024. This decision, stated in Resolution No. (2) of 2024, aims to protect marine life and balance the ecosystem.
This rule prohibits fishing for these fish types in Bahrain’s waters during April and May each year, with a ban specifically for May 2024. Fishermen who catch these fish during the ban must release them back into the sea safely.
The Council emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in implementing this decision to preserve fish wealth. Regulating fishing is a national responsibility that benefits society as a whole.
Furthermore, the Council confirms that marine teams will work closely with authorities to monitor and prevent violations of this decision. This ensures the development, growth, and preservation of fish and marine wealth for current and future generations.
