Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain, emphasizes the crucial role of research in advancing patient care, especially for conditions like diabetic foot ulcers.

The success of this research has garnered international recognition, with funding secured from Enterprise Ireland/Europe to further explore a wound product from Irish industry. Contributions from Dr Priya Das, Postdoctoral Researcher, and Ms Noof Sulaiman, Research Laboratory Technician, as well as other surgeons and specialists from Bahrain and Dublin, have been vital in driving the project forward. This collaboration showcases the commitment of RCSI Bahrain and RMS to prioritizing innovative research to improve patient outcomes and address national and global health challenges.

The project’s focus on reducing infection risks and amputation rates in diabetic skin ulcers has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of this condition, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients. By fostering innovation and collaboration between medical institutions in Bahrain and Ireland, the research team is paving the way for more effective solutions in wound healing.
