The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain has recently announced the launch of three tenders for the construction of 137 new housing units in Salman City. This project is part of the government’s “government land development rights” programme, which aims to boost housing supply through public-private partnerships. The initiative is being carried out in accordance with directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The three packages of new projects in Salman City span across 27,000 square meters, with the first package consisting of 69 units, the second package with 44 units, and the third package with 24 units. The deadline for tender submissions for interested parties is February 19th, 2025. This marks the seventh housing project launched under the programme since its inception.
Previous projects under the programme include the successful completion of the “Suhail” housing project in Al Luzi, which was done in collaboration with a private developer and has already sold all units. There was also a 131-unit project in Salman City undertaken with Delmon Gate, as well as projects in partnership with Al Saraya and Al Namal companies for the development of “Al Buhair” and “Hawrat Sanad” respectively. It has been highlighted that the Salman City projects will benefit from ready infrastructure, which aims to streamline the construction process and increase the availability of housing units for citizens applying for housing finance programmes offered by the ministry.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is preparing to launch more housing projects under the same programme, with the goal of significantly increasing housing supply across Bahrain. The provision of complete infrastructure and integrated services in designated areas is a key focus to ensure timely completion of projects and to support developers in building more housing units. The aim is to address the housing needs of citizens and to facilitate access to housing finance programmes for those looking to own a home in Bahrain.
