The Gulf-Yemeni relations have been firmly established over the years, with the State of Qatar showing full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen. The joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Republic of Yemen aimed to enhance coordination and achieve security and stability in the region amidst ongoing tensions and conflicts. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar highlighted the importance of a political solution in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and UN resolutions to preserve Yemen’s sovereignty and unity. Qatar pledged to provide humanitarian aid to alleviate the crisis’s impact on the Yemeni people and to collaborate with international organizations to address challenges in delivering aid in Yemen.

The escalating geopolitical tensions in the region, from the war in Gaza to confrontations in the Red Sea, have had a significant impact on regional security. Qatar emphasized the need for peaceful dialogue and regional and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and address related crises. The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar’s unwavering support for mediation efforts in Yemen based on national dialogue outcomes and UN resolutions to achieve security, stability, and development for the Yemeni people. Qatar stands alongside Yemen until their aspirations are met.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Yemen expressed the country’s commitment to regional and international efforts to end the war and achieve peace. He called for support from GCC countries to strengthen the Yemeni government and emphasized the humanitarian crisis Yemen is facing. Yemen’s government has been struggling financially due to disruptions in oil exports and the impact on national economy. Humanitarian needs have increased significantly, and the Yemeni population is facing rising poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity.

The GCC Secretary General highlighted the importance of deepening partnership between GCC countries and Yemen to enhance security and stability in the region. The GCC has been a major donor to Yemen, providing economic, development, and humanitarian assistance to address the country’s needs. Efforts are being made to coordinate support for development projects in Yemen and prioritize urgent needs. The GCC countries are committed to supporting the Yemeni people in various sectors to alleviate the economic challenges facing the country.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen, exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks and violations, has hindered peace efforts and worsened the humanitarian crisis. Despite international truce agreements and mediation efforts, the situation in Yemen remains volatile, with continued military operations affecting commercial shipping and internal fronts. The Yemeni government’s commitment to UN truces and efforts to address economic challenges through vital sectors such as energy supply and currency value preservation are commendable amidst the ongoing crisis.

In conclusion, the joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and Yemen reaffirms the commitment to strengthening cooperation and achieving peace and security in the region. As the crisis in Yemen continues to unfold, regional and international support will be crucial in addressing humanitarian needs, securing a ceasefire, and facilitating a political solution. The challenges faced by Yemen require collective efforts and sustained cooperation to mitigate the impact on the Yemeni population and pave the way for a peaceful and stable future for the country.
