The 16th Gulf Radio and Television Festival recently concluded with a high note in the presence of Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information. The event, held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, saw the largest participation in its history, with 360 works in radio, television, digital, and advertising, as well as 70 dramatic television works from Gulf and Arab countries. Majri Mubarak Al Qahtani, Director-General of the Gulf Radio and Television Organisation (GRTO), was also present at the festival.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival was the launch of the inaugural Al Dana Drama Award, under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad. The Minister of Information also took the time to honor Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, former Minister of Information, and Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Bahar, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, for their contributions to the success of previous festival sessions. Additionally, eighteen nominees from member states and members of the judging committee were also recognized for their contributions.

During the festival’s closing ceremony, attendees were treated to folklore, traditional music, and a performance by Khalifa Al Jumairi. The heads of GCC countries’ delegations also honored the winners of the Sail awards in the gold and silver divisions for radio and television categories, including organizations, members, the private sector, short films, and digital media. Bahrain came out on top, winning a total of 13 awards at the festival.

The presence of high-profile guests such as Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa added prestige to the event, while the recognition of key figures in the industry highlighted their important contributions. The festival provided a platform for artists and creators from across the region to come together, share their talents, and celebrate the diversity and creativity of Gulf and Arab media.

As the festival came to a close, it was clear that the Gulf Radio and Television Festival has become a cornerstone event in the region’s entertainment industry, showcasing the best talent and works from across the Gulf and Arab countries.
