Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is proud to announce the exceptional achievements of three of its graduates from the Class of 2024. Mohammed Al Zeyara, Nur Mukhammadiev, and Asma Shakeel are poised to make a significant impact in their respective fields, thanks to the comprehensive education and skills acquired at GU-Q.

Mohammed Al Zeyara, a Qatari graduate and International Politics major, credits GU-Q’s diverse environment for broadening his international perspective and emphasizing the importance of communication. Through involvement in student life activities, such as serving on the Dean’s Residential Life Task Force and volunteering during the 2022 FIFA World Cup QatarTM, he honed his community leadership skills. With plans for graduate school and work in the security sector, Mohammed is well-prepared to drive positive change.

Nur Mukhammadiev, originally from Uzbekistan, found his time at GU-Q transformational. Majoring in International Economics with a Philosophy minor, he utilized resources within Education City to enhance his problem-solving abilities. Nur’s dedication to social impact led to recognition and support from various programs, including Georgetown University’s Social Innovation and Public Service (SIPS) Fund. With plans to launch a startup in the region, Nur is on track to become a prominent figure in social entrepreneurship.

Asma Shakeel, a standout student with multiple academic awards, excelled in her International History major. Her interest in South Asia’s missionary history, coupled with leadership roles in the South Asian Society and the Georgetown Debating Union, showcases her commitment to cross-cultural understanding. Awarded the 2024 Rhodes Scholarship, Asma will pursue her master’s in Global and Imperial history and a PhD at the University of Oxford, further solidifying her status as a promising scholar and leader.

These three graduates exemplify the Georgetown spirit, embodying the values of leadership and innovation instilled by their holistic education at GU-Q. As future leaders and innovators, Mohammed, Nur, and Asma are well-equipped to tackle global challenges in a rapidly changing world, thanks to their experiences at Georgetown University in Qatar.
