Actor Glen Powell recently expressed his interest in playing the iconic role of Batman in the DC Universe. Known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone but You, Powell revealed that he has always been a fan of Batman and would love to bring his own unique take to the character. He mentioned that his version of Batman would be inspired by Michael Keaton’s portrayal in Tim Burton’s Batman, rather than the more recent interpretation by Matt Reaves.

Interestingly, Powell has a history in the DC Universe, having appeared as ‘Trader #1’ in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. He humorously recalled getting his head smashed in by Bane in the film. However, Powell’s vision for Batman goes beyond just a supporting role, as he expressed his desire to fully embody the character in a standalone film focusing on the caped crusader.

Powell’s comments come at a time when Robert Pattinson is set to reprise the role of Batman in The Batman — Part II, a sequel to the 2022 film. The upcoming movie, originally scheduled for release in 2025, has been delayed due to external factors, pushing it to 2026. Despite this delay, Powell’s enthusiasm for playing Batman remains unwavering, highlighting his dedication to bringing his own unique interpretation to the iconic superhero role.

In discussing the different eras of Batman films, Powell referenced the distinct styles and tones that each portrayal has brought to the character. With the DC Universe expanding with new projects and alternate timelines, there is room for multiple interpretations of Batman, each offering a fresh perspective on the beloved character. Powell’s interest in taking on the role showcases his commitment to honoring the legacy of Batman while also adding his own creative spin to the character.

Ultimately, Powell’s passion for playing Batman reflects a deep respect for the character and the opportunity to contribute to the rich tapestry of the DC Universe. As fans eagerly await the next chapter in Batman’s cinematic journey, Powell’s enthusiasm and dedication to the role hint at a potential future where he could bring his unique vision of the Dark Knight to life on the big screen. Whether or not this dream becomes a reality, Powell’s love for Batman is clear, and his desire to portray the character is a testament to his admiration for the iconic superhero.
