The Purebred Arabian Show Horses & Mares race at Al Rayyan Racecourse saw Mueer Al Rayyan, trained by Mohammed Al Ghazali, emerge victorious under the guidance of jockey Marco Casamento. The event, held as part of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) schedule, marked one of the first-ever races for Purebred Arabian show horses in the region.
The 1000m Purebred Arabian Show Horses & Mares race was contested by four runners, with Mueer Al Rayyan securing a comfortable 8½-length win. Casamento praised the horse’s performance, stating that he felt there was nothing too dangerous on the day and that Mueer Al Rayyan competed very well.

The introduction of show horse races by QREC has added a new dimension to the racing calendar, with a total of nine such races scheduled this season – eight at Al Rayyan and one at Al Uqda. The four-year-old gelding, owned and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, delivered a powerful late surge under jockey Alberto Sanna to secure an impressive 4½-length win.
In the Thoroughbred Conditions race, Qahwa, owned and trained by Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki, took a three-length victory with Sanna at the helm. Additionally, AJS Agadir claimed the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap title for trainer M.H.K Al Attiyah, winning by over two lengths in the 1900m contest.
