Germany’s coach Julian Nagelsmann is ready to play to win against Switzerland on Sunday, despite the possibility of facing Spain in the quarter-finals. Both Germany and Spain have already secured spots in the knockout stages and will be looking to finish at the top of their group. Nagelsmann emphasized the importance of staying focused on the present and taking each game as it comes, without getting ahead of themselves.

Switzerland, currently second in the group with four points, will secure their place in second with a draw against Germany. Nagelsmann praised the Swiss team and their coach Murat Yakin, acknowledging their strength as opponents. The match between Germany and Switzerland is expected to be an interesting one, with both teams aiming for a victory. German defender Jonathan Tah echoed Nagelsmann’s sentiments, stating that their mindset going into every game is to win.

Nagelsmann has maintained the same starting XI for the German team since making 11 changes in March, citing the importance of continuity at the national level. Despite some players coming into the match against Switzerland on a yellow card, Nagelsmann has not planned any changes to the lineup. Switzerland’s coach Yakin, on the other hand, emphasized that the pressure is on Germany as the hosts, while his team will be looking to enjoy the match and cause problems for their opponents.

Yakin is not looking too far ahead to potential knockout-round opponents, focusing instead on the match at hand. Switzerland’s best result at a Euros came in 2021 when they reached the quarter-finals after eliminating France. Yakin acknowledged that there are no weak teams in the tournament and that every match is a tough, top-level game. The Swiss team is focused on the present and will celebrate if they qualify for the next round, but their primary focus is on the upcoming match against Germany.
