The Financial Service Authority’s (FSA) Bayanat portal has been recognized as one of the top five projects in the C7 Business category by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). This achievement comes after the portal received a high number of votes in the competition for the prize. FSA will be participating in the prize announcement ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland at the end of the month. Bayanat is a disclosure portal that provides financial and non-financial information for public joint stock companies, investment funds, and other entities regulated by the FSA. It is considered a key electronic project within the FSA’s strategic plan to upgrade the securities market in line with Oman Vision 2040’s priorities for digital transformation.

Participating in the competition was an opportunity for FSA to showcase its digital projects that aim to make information more accessible and attract both domestic and international investors. It also allowed Oman to be represented in such initiatives on a global stage. The Bayanat portal was created to enhance transparency and efficiency in financial markets, ultimately improving the confidence of market participants both within and outside of Oman. By enhancing the legislative and technological infrastructure related to disclosure processes, the portal aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s goals for digital transformation as a national priority.

Bayanat serves as a digital analytical portal for the disclosure of financial and non-financial information using XBRL language. This technology provides a safe and efficient way to standardize financial information and disclosure elements, making it easily accessible to all parties involved. By utilizing XRBL to transfer financial statements and data using IFRS Taxonomies, the portal ensures that the information is readable by both individuals and computers. This standardized system allows for accurate, reliable, and timely financial information to be shared in a way that facilitates analysis and comparison.

Overall, the recognition of the Bayanat portal in the WSIS competition highlights FSA’s commitment to enhancing transparency and efficiency in Oman’s financial markets. By participating in such initiatives, FSA is able to showcase its digital projects and attract investors both locally and internationally. The portal’s use of XBRL language and standardized technology demonstrates its dedication to providing accurate and reliable financial information, ultimately contributing to the goals of Oman Vision 2040 for digital transformation as a national priority.
