French film icon Alain Delon passes away, his children inform AFP

French film legend Alain Delon, known for his iconic roles in classic films such as “Purple Noon” and “Le Samurai,” has passed away at the age of 88. His three children announced his death in a statement, revealing that he died peacefully at his home in Douchy after a battle with ill health. Delon’s final public appearance was at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or.

Born in Sceaux, France in 1935, Delon began his acting career in the 1950s and quickly rose to fame as one of the most influential actors of his generation.
