The French national team began their Euro 2024 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Austria, thanks to an own goal by Maximilian Woeber. Despite the win, Kylian Mbappe suffered a bloody nose due to a collision and missed a golden opportunity to score. The French team, led by Mbappe, faced a tough challenge from Austria, who demonstrated an impressive pressing game under coach Ralf Rangnick. The victory was crucial for France, as it overshadowed the pre-game discussions about politics in the country and allowed the team to focus on the competition.

France, one of the top contenders in the tournament, struggled to find their rhythm but managed to secure the win against Austria. Mbappe’s missed chances raised some concerns, but the team was able to maintain their composure and secure all three points. With their sights set on becoming European champions for the third time, France will be looking to improve their performance in the upcoming matches. The win against Austria put them on equal footing with the Netherlands in Group D.

Despite Austria’s commendable efforts in the game, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities and find the equalizer. With a coach from Germany and several players from the German Bundesliga, Austria had a familiar setting during the Euros. However, the sheer talent of the French team was evident, particularly through Mbappe’s leadership on the field. After a disappointing previous Euros campaign, Mbappe was determined to make an impact and create scoring opportunities for his team.

The game saw Mbappe’s early chance denied by the Austrian goalkeeper, showcasing the intensity of the match. Both teams had their moments, with Austria missing a crucial opportunity before Woeber’s own goal gave France the lead. Despite Mbappe’s missed chances later in the game, France managed to hold on to their one-goal advantage and secure the win. The match was closely contested, with Austria’s determination to level the score evident throughout the game.

Looking ahead, France will face the Netherlands next in a highly anticipated clash, while Austria will take on Poland. The focus for France will be on improving their performance and capitalizing on scoring opportunities, while maintaining their defensive solidity. Mbappe’s leadership and goal-scoring prowess will be crucial for France as they aim to progress further in the tournament. The victory against Austria was a positive start for France, setting the stage for an exciting journey in the Euro 2024 competition.
