Former Cardiff and Ivory Coast footballer Sol Bamba passes away at 39

Former Cardiff player Souleymane “Sol” Bamba, aged 39, has tragically passed away. He was coaching at the Turkish club Adanaspor when he fell ill and was admitted to hospital in Manisa, where he sadly died. Adanaspor expressed their condolences to Bamba’s family and the community, describing his unexpected death as a great tragedy. Bamba, who began his career at Paris Saint-Germain, played in various leagues including the Scottish, English, Turkish, and Italian leagues, as well as earning 46 international caps for the Ivory Coast.

Bamba played a significant role in Cardiff’s 2018-19 season in the Premier League, and even served as the club’s assistant manager for part of the 2022-23 season.
