The foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Egypt recently held a virtual meeting to discuss the current developments in mediation efforts aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. They also touched upon the release of hostages and detainees, as well as the delivery of aid to the region. The ministers expressed their support for the ongoing efforts and emphasized the importance of positively engaging with a proposal put forth by President Joe Biden on June 2nd.

President Biden’s proposal aims to achieve a deal that ensures a lasting ceasefire and the adequate delivery of aid across Gaza, ultimately putting an end to the suffering of the people living in the Strip. The ministers stressed the need to stop the aggression on Gaza, address the humanitarian crisis it has caused, and facilitate the return of displaced individuals to their homes. They also called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip and the launch of a reconstruction process as part of a broader plan to implement a two-state solution based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Implementing the two-state solution, which envisions an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, living alongside Israel in peace and security, is seen as key to achieving stability and peace in the region. The foreign ministers highlighted the importance of adhering to international legality resolutions and specified timelines, as well as binding guarantees to ensure the success of the two-state solution.

In addition to the ministers’ discussions on the two-state solution, they reiterated the necessity of engaging positively with President Biden’s proposal to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. They emphasized the importance of ending the suffering of the people in the Strip and creating a conducive environment for peace and security for all in the region. By supporting the ongoing mediation efforts and engaging constructively with proposed solutions, the ministers aim to bring about a resolution that benefits all parties involved in the conflict.

The virtual meeting of the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Egypt highlights the collective efforts being made to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza and work towards a lasting solution. By emphasizing the importance of President Biden’s proposal, the ministers are signaling their commitment to finding a path towards peace and security in the region. Their focus on implementing the two-state solution and adhering to international legality resolutions underscores their dedication to finding a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

Overall, the recent virtual meeting of the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Egypt is a significant step towards addressing the crisis in Gaza and working towards a lasting solution. By supporting ongoing mediation efforts and positively engaging with proposed solutions, the ministers are demonstrating their commitment to finding a path towards peace and security in the region. As they highlight the importance of implementing the two-state solution and adhering to international legality resolutions, the ministers are making it clear that they are dedicated to finding a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the conflict in Gaza.
