Foreign Minister meets with Ukrainian counterpart to discuss conflict

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi of Oman welcomed Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to Muscat. The meeting between the two ministers focused on exchanging political consultations and views on various issues, particularly the Ukraine-Russia crises. They discussed ways to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international law, with the goal of ending the suffering of the people involved. Additionally, they touched on the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip and Lebanon, expressing the importance of reaching an immediate ceasefire and returning to the path of peace through dialogue.

During the meeting, the ministers emphasized the importance of respecting international law, lifting the siege on Gaza, and releasing all hostages as part of the efforts to bring about lasting peace in the region. They also discussed areas of cooperation between Oman and Ukraine, including economic collaboration, cultural exchanges, science and technology transfer, logistics, transport, and renewable energy initiatives. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, and Dr. Maksym Subkh, Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, as well as several officials from both countries.

The visit of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister to Muscat marks an important step in strengthening diplomatic relations between Oman and Ukraine. The discussions between the two ministers regarding the Ukraine-Russia crises reflect Oman’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. By exchanging views and exploring ways to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, both countries are demonstrating their dedication to resolving conflicts through dialogue and in accordance with international law.

The ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip and Lebanon was also a key topic of discussion during the meeting. The ministers stressed the importance of reaching an immediate ceasefire to end the policy of escalation and return to the path of peace. By underlining the significance of respecting international law and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the ministers are highlighting the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the region.

In addition to political issues, the two ministers also reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation in various sectors such as economy, culture, science and technology transfer, transport, logistics, and renewable energy. Both Oman and Ukraine are committed to enhancing their partnership and exploring new opportunities for collaboration that will benefit both countries. By working together in these areas, Oman and Ukraine can strengthen their ties and create mutual benefits for their respective economies.

Overall, the meeting between the Foreign Minister of Oman and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Muscat was a productive exchange of ideas and views on important political issues affecting the region. The emphasis on promoting peace, respecting international law, and exploring opportunities for cooperation underscores the commitment of both countries to fostering diplomatic relations and working towards common goals.
