Doha, Qatar – Residents of Qatar should prepare for potential disruptions due to fog and reduced visibility on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The Qatar Meteorology Department issued a forecast Tuesday warning of misty to foggy conditions, particularly during the early morning hours, across several areas. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution while traveling.

The forecast covers the entirety of Qatar, with the highest probability of dense fog concentrated in coastal regions and inland areas prone to moisture accumulation. Daytime temperatures will remain moderate with scattered cloud cover, but a noticeable cool down is expected overnight. This weather pattern is typical for this time of year in Qatar, as temperatures begin to drop towards the winter months.

Understanding the Foggy Weather in Qatar

The formation of fog in Qatar is often linked to a combination of factors, including high humidity, light winds, and decreasing temperatures. According to meteorological principles, when warm, moist air comes into contact with a cooler surface, condensation occurs, leading to the creation of fog. The current conditions are conducive to this process, particularly as the cooler nighttime temperatures settle.

Inshore winds are predicted to be variable initially, below 3 knots, before shifting to a northwesterly to northeasterly direction at 5-15 knots. Offshore winds will primarily be northwesterly, ranging from 6-16 knots. These wind patterns can influence the dispersal of fog, but light winds may allow it to linger longer in certain locations.

Temperature Variations Across Qatar

Temperature differences are expected across the country. Doha and Al Khor are forecast to reach a high of 28°C (82°F) and a low of 19°C (66°F) and 15°C (59°F) respectively.

Further south, Al Ruwais is expected to see a high of 24°C (75°F) and a low of 21°C (70°F). Dukhan and Abu Samra will experience similar daytime highs of 24°C (75°F) and 25°C (77°F) respectively, with cooler overnight lows of 15°C (59°F). Mesaieed is anticipated to be the coolest, with a high of 24°C (75°F) and a low of 12°C (54°F). Al Wakrah will have a high of 25°C (77°F) and a low of 18°C (64°F).

The Qatar Meteorology Department advises motorists to reduce speed, increase following distances, and use low-beam headlights when driving in foggy conditions. Visibility can be severely reduced, creating hazardous driving situations. Drivers are also encouraged to check weather updates before commencing their journeys. The Ministry of Municipality provides regular updates on weather conditions throughout the country.

Beyond driving, reduced visibility can also impact other activities, such as maritime operations and aviation. The authorities are likely monitoring conditions closely to ensure the safety of all transportation sectors. The potential for disruption to outdoor events should also be considered. Qatar Airways and other transport providers may issue advisories if the weather impacts schedules.

The current forecast suggests the foggy conditions will be most prevalent during the early morning hours of Wednesday. However, the duration and intensity of the fog remain somewhat uncertain. The Meteorology Department will continue to monitor the situation and provide updated forecasts as needed. Residents should stay informed through official channels for the latest information on this developing weather event and potential impacts on daily life. Further updates regarding the weather are expected by Wednesday afternoon, potentially outlining the forecast for the remainder of the week.

Looking ahead, the long-term weather outlook for Qatar indicates a continuation of moderate temperatures with occasional fluctuations in humidity. The possibility of further foggy episodes remains, particularly during calm and humid conditions. Monitoring the forecasts from the Qatar Meteorology Department will be crucial for planning activities and ensuring safety throughout the winter season.
