The Football Association is on the lookout for a new England manager as Gareth Southgate steps down following the team’s Euro 2024 final defeat against Spain. The FA has identified a number of candidates, including the likes of Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and Ange Postecoglou. However, they have made it clear that the search is open to anyone who meets the criteria outlined in a job profile detailing the qualities required in the next England manager. The main focus for the new manager will be to lead the team to victory in a major tournament and consistently rank as one of the top teams in the world.

While Southgate did receive praise for his efforts in restoring England’s reputation, he was unable to deliver a major trophy for the team. The FA is looking for someone who can provide inspiring leadership to the technical team, maintain strong relationships with clubs, and hold a UEFA Pro License. They are also seeking an exceptional leader who is comfortable with intense public scrutiny and has a strong track record in delivering results both in the Premier League and in international competitions. The promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion is also a key aspect of the search for the new manager.

Among the potential candidates is England Women’s coach Sarina Wiegman, who led the team to victory at the Women’s European Championship in 2022. The FA has set August 2 as the closing date for applications, with England’s first match of the new season scheduled to be a Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland on September 7. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply, as the governing body is looking for a manager who can take the England team to the next level and bring home a major trophy. The search for Southgate’s replacement is on, with the FA eager to find the right person to lead the team to success in future tournaments.
