Argentinian rookie Franco Colapinto is set to make his Formula One debut at the Italian Grand Prix, replacing Logan Sargeant for Williams. Despite being compared to football legend Lionel Messi by fans back home, Colapinto humbly brushed off the comparison, stating that it was crazy to equate himself to such an icon. He expressed a desire to focus on his performance gradually and not set high expectations for his debut with Williams, who are currently struggling in the constructors’ championship.

Colapinto emphasized the importance of staying focused on his job and meeting the team’s expectations during the upcoming race weekend at Monza. He acknowledged that he needed to take it step by step and concentrate on his own performance rather than getting caught up in the hype of being compared to Messi. Despite the pressure of making his F1 debut, Colapinto expressed confidence in his abilities and believed that he could deliver for the team.

The young driver is set to hit the track for practice sessions at Monza on Friday, marking the beginning of his journey in Formula One. With only four points in the constructors’ championship, Williams is looking for a boost in performance, and Colapinto’s debut could provide the team with a fresh perspective. As the first Argentine driver in over two decades to compete in F1, Colapinto has garnered significant attention and support from fans eager to see how he will fare in the high-pressure environment of Formula One.

As Colapinto gears up for his debut race weekend, he remains grounded and focused on the tasks at hand. He aims to deliver what the team expects of him and showcase his capabilities on the track. While the comparisons to Messi may seem daunting, Colapinto is determined to carve out his own path in the world of motorsport and make his mark as a talented and promising young driver. With the support of his team and his dedication to continuous improvement, Colapinto is poised to make a memorable debut at the Italian Grand Prix.
