If you have developed an interest in links golf after watching The Open at Royal Troon, you might want to consider tuning into this week’s Senior Open presented by Rolex, which will be held at the iconic Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland. The tournament will feature legends from both the Champions Tour and Legends Tour competing in a 72-hole event for a $2.85 million purse. Among the favorites in the field are Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke, who both played all four rounds at The Open at Royal Troon. Former Dubai resident Thomas Bjorn will also be looking to continue his good form as he stands 22nd in the Charles Schwab Champions Tour Standings.

Defending champion Alex Cejka will be joined by top players like Ernie Els, Scott Hend, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Bernhard Langer, and Paul Lawrie at the Senior Open at Carnoustie. Indian golfing sensation Jeev Milkha Singh, who is known for excelling in challenging conditions, highlighted Carnoustie as the toughest links course of them all. Despite the unpredictable Scottish weather, Milkha Singh expressed his readiness to tackle the course and give his best performance. The statistic of the week shows that Ernie Els currently leads the 2024 Charles Schwab Champions Tour Order of Merit Rankings, having won $1,807,160 so far in the season.

Carnoustie has a rich history of hosting prestigious golf events, including The Open on eight occasions and the Senior Open in 2010 and 2016. Winners of the Senior Open at Carnoustie, Bernhard Langer and Paul Broadhurst, will be returning to compete in this year’s tournament. Following the Senior Open, the Legends Tour will hold their flagship tournament, the Staysure Seniors PGA Championship hosted by Colin Montgomerie, at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire. Many top players from Carnoustie are expected to participate in the championship. For more information on the upcoming tournaments, visit www.Legendstour.com.

In conclusion, Carnoustie Golf Links is set to host the Senior Open, featuring top golfing legends from around the world who will battle it out for a significant prize purse. Players like Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, and Jeev Milkha Singh will be vying for the title on what is considered one of the toughest links courses in golf. With unpredictable weather conditions adding to the challenge, golf fans can expect an exciting and competitive tournament at Carnoustie. Following the Senior Open, players will have the opportunity to continue their golfing journey at the Staysure Seniors PGA Championship hosted by Colin Montgomerie in Aberdeenshire. Stay tuned for some fantastic golf action in the upcoming tournaments.
