Nintendo recently announced the unveiling of its completed Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, which is set to open on October 2, 2024. During a special Nintendo Direct presentation, hosted by gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto, viewers were given a glimpse into the museum’s key exhibits and activities. The museum is located on the grounds of Nintendo’s original playing card factory, showcasing the company’s rich history and legacy in the gaming world.

Upon entering the museum, visitors are welcomed with a Mario-themed plaza featuring elements from the Super Mario Bros. series, creating an immersive experience from the start. One of the museum’s main attractions is the collection of giant Nintendo controllers that allow visitors to play classic games from past eras like NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and Wii. Miyamoto even demonstrated the functionality of these oversized controllers during the presentation, showcasing a unique and memorable experience for fans.

The museum’s interactive exhibits offer a challenge for visitors, as they require digital coins to access. Each visitor is only given 10 coins upon entry, and once they are used up, they cannot be replenished. This means that multiple visits may be needed to fully experience all that the museum has to offer. The exhibits also showcase the evolution of Nintendo’s iconic Question Block, graphics development in games like Mario and Zelda, and even non-gaming products created by Nintendo in its early years.

Paying tribute to Nintendo’s roots, the museum offers an interactive experience where visitors can design their own Hanafuda cards, the traditional Japanese playing cards that Nintendo originally produced. There is also a Play Room where visitors can learn popular versions of Hanafuda. Additionally, the museum features a restaurant and shop for visitors to enjoy. Ticket prices for the museum are set at 3,300 yen for adults, with lower prices for children. Currently, a lottery drawing is being held for the chance to purchase tickets for dates starting from the grand opening on October 2.

In conclusion, the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, offers fans a unique opportunity to explore the history and legacy of one of the most iconic companies in gaming. With interactive exhibits, giant controllers, and a focus on Nintendo’s roots, the museum provides an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The museum’s opening on October 2, 2024, is highly anticipated, with ticket sales already underway through a lottery system. Whether you’re a long-time Nintendo fan or simply curious about the company’s history, the Nintendo Museum is sure to be a must-visit destination for gaming enthusiasts around the world.
