The upcoming US presidential election is generating a lot of interest across Europe, with polls showing that many voters in various European countries are favoring Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump. The outcome of this election is not only crucial for the United States but also has significant implications for Europe’s trade relations and foreign policy, including its relationship with NATO during times of conflict.

In Athens, Greece, a recent poll showed that a majority of citizens believe that Kamala Harris will become the first female president of the United States, while only a minority believe that Donald Trump will make a return to the White House. Similarly, in Germany, polling indicates that two-thirds of Germans prefer Harris to be the next US president, with potential consequences for NATO. The Hungarian government has also made the US presidential election a domestic political issue, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán publicly supporting Trump and aligning his budget planning with the potential outcome of the election.

Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy are also closely following the US election, with a majority of citizens in these countries expressing a preference for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. In Lisbon, Portugal, a survey shows that 70% of Portuguese citizens would choose Harris as the next president, believing that the outcome will impact the economy, social progress, and conflict management in the country. Similarly, in Spain, a high percentage of Spaniards believe that a Harris victory would be better for the country’s interests compared to the return of Trump. French citizens are also showing strong support for Harris, with a significant portion of the population viewing her as the best candidate to address global crises in Ukraine and the Middle East.

In Italy, a majority of Italians have expressed their support for Kamala Harris as the next US president, with only a minority backing Donald Trump. These sentiments align with what individuals on the streets of Rome have shared, highlighting the significant impact that the US election will have on global affairs, including conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as the geopolitical power dynamics involving China and Europe.

Overall, the US presidential election is capturing the attention of European citizens, who are closely monitoring the race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The outcome of this election is seen as having far-reaching implications for Europe, including its trade relations, foreign policy, and regional security through NATO. The support for Harris over Trump in several key European countries reflects a preference for a candidate who is viewed as having a more favorable approach to addressing global challenges and conflicts.
