The Tartan Army, consisting of Scottish fans, has been out in full force since the start of Euro 2024, ready to support their team and have a good time. The fans are known for their colorful and spirited presence at matches, adding to the lively atmosphere of the tournament. Despite the disappointment of their team’s loss to Germany, the Tartan Army’s mood has remained upbeat and they have been well-received by locals and fans of other nations.

On Wednesday, thousands of kilt-wearing Scottish fans will march to the stadium in Cologne for Scotland’s game against Switzerland. The Fan Walk, approved by the local police, will feature bagpipers and drummers leading the procession along a 1.7km route. Organizers have urged fans to be considerate of local residents and make use of temporary toilets provided along the way. The Tartan Army’s presence in Germany has been largely peaceful and enjoyable, with the fans earning praise from German police for creating a special atmosphere.

The Tartan Army, composed of individual clubs throughout Scotland and around the world, has been notably absent from tournaments for the past two decades. With Scotland’s qualification for Euro 2024, fans were able to dust off their kilts and begin making plans for a summer of football and fun. Estimates suggest that as many as 250,000 Scots have traveled to Germany to support their team, even if they don’t have match tickets. The joyous and lively atmosphere created by the Tartan Army has been a highlight of the tournament so far.

In addition to their passion for football, the Tartan Army has been recognized for their charitable work. The Uefa has awarded the fans for their fundraising efforts, including a recent donation to a German football project for children with disabilities. This commitment to giving back highlights the positive impact that the Tartan Army has both on and off the field. The fans take pride in self-policing their behavior, ensuring that they respect the places they visit and look out for each other while enjoying the excitement of the tournament.

The Tartan Army’s presence has been a welcome addition to Euro 2024, bringing fun, camaraderie, and a sense of community to the tournament. Despite the team’s results on the field, the fans have remained in high spirits and have been well-received by host cities and local residents. With their colorful attire and lively spirit, the Tartan Army has added a unique and enjoyable element to the tournament experience for fans and players alike. As they continue to support their team and spread positivity, the Tartan Army serves as a shining example of the joy and camaraderie that football can bring to people from all walks of life.
